As coffee producers, we see it as our responsibility to protect the climate. We demonstrate this commitment through the CO2 label on our packaging. This label indicates the payment of a voluntary contribution to climate protection per ton of CO2 from our products and processes.
Why do we pay a climate protection contribution?
Emissions from cultivation, consumption, and disposal are calculated, resulting in a contribution that is paid to internationally certified climate protection projects.Who carries out the calculation?
The calculation has been entrusted to experts. Intep is an independent consulting and research company specializing in environmental, economic, and social issues.Which project do we support?
The climate protection project we support with MyClimate is certified by the “Gold Standard.” The Gold Standard certification ensures that a climate protection project meets the highest standards for sustainability, emission reductions, and positive impacts on local communities. At CoffeeB, our climate strategy is based on three pillars.
Reducing greenhouse gas emissions: CO2 emissions are reduced overall through cleaner production and more efficient transport. How? Through technical improvements and the resulting higher efficiency of our processes, as well as electricity from renewable sources.
Offsetting: Companies make a financial contribution to climate projects based on their CO2 emissions. Offsetting helps us reduce global GHG emissions and support climate protection projects.
Insetting: This refers to reducing CO2 emissions within our own value chain. We aim to implement our own Insetting project with our partner, Myclimate, in the coming years.

More information about our climate contribution can be found at our climate partner MyClimateOur CO2 footprint
We calculate our entire CO2 footprint.
From the cultivation of our delicate coffee plants to the moment you close your eyes and enjoy our coffee: We take responsibility for the entire value chain of our coffee. We look at the entire product lifecycle. We consider the entire product life cycle (cradle-to-grave).
When assessing our CO2 emissions, we do not omit any part of the life cycle. Did you know that almost a third of our emissions are caused by our customers? When shopping in the supermarket. The transport home. Brewing the coffee in the machine. You can support us! If you do your shopping on foot or by bike, use green electricity at home, separate your waste and don't replace your machine after just a few years, you are actively helping to protect the climate and the environment. As a partner of Myclimate, we support a forest protection project in Kenya
Reforestation and the preservation of large protected forest areas help to meet global climate goals. Natural forests, in particular, are excellent at absorbing CO2 from the air and storing it in wood and soil. Every forest is worth protecting, no matter where it is located.Other benefits:
- Less consumption of firewood from threatened forest areas.
- Time savings for women.
- Fewer respiratory infections for women and children.
- Preservation of the plant and animal diversity in the unique Kakamega rainforest in Kenya.
